Kiteboarding is quickly becoming one of the most popular extreme water sports. This extreme sport has become a global sensation, with its earliest forms dating back to the 1800s when kites were used to increase the speed of propulsion on both land and sea carts. The sport requires the participant to be strapped to a wakeboard and use a large kit above to steer on top of the water. This activity is best performed in areas of the world with consistent wind patterns so as to guarantee ideal conditions. Technological breakthroughs in fabric design and materials has allowed for participants to break speed and jump height records with ease. Given the nature of the sport, experts in the field strongly encourage those who are looking to break into kiteboarding to seek the proper training from a certified teacher. Training can consist of five or more 1-4 hour sessions learning everything from the proper gear needed to the proper way to handle the kite.

Although you may have heard the term autism in the media, you may not be sure what exactly it is. Join Rob Lowe as he speaks with experts in this field to bring you an in depth look into autism.
Autism is considered to be a spectrum disorder, which means that it covers a range of conditions that affect the person’s life. As an example, people who live with autism can have challenges in basic social skills, speech, non-verbal communication, and repetitive behaviors. Autism is one of the fastest growing diagnosed disorders in the United States today. The most recent figures indicate that autism affects 1 in 68 children annually, with 1 in 42 of those cases being male children.
At this time, there are no direct medical tests to detect autism and there’s also no direct cures for the disorder. Due to the fact that it is a spectrum disorder, this means that an individual afflicted with the disorder can fall anywhere on the scale. This means that one person can be highly functioning and lead a very normal life, while others may need constant care.

The media, as well as politicians, have made the United States college education system a main focus in recent years. The United States still boasts a majority of the world’s finest institutes for higher education. However, the U.S. also boasts some of the highest costs for this education in the world. It is no secret to anyone that the cost of attending a university or college has far outpaced the rate of inflation. Because of this, many young adults just starting their lives are weighed down with mountains of student loan debt in an effort to afford the costly education. Given the extreme cost of furthering one’s education along with the intense competition, many students are beginning to question whether a college education is even worth it. This fact has created a gaping hole in sectors of the economy such as teaching and medicine. The gap between the cost of higher education and the payoff after graduation has led many young adults to forgo the collegiate experience altogether.
No matter where you go in the U.S. you can find someone who’s goal it is to improve the curb appeal of their yard. For those individuals who wish to go above and beyond the typical landscaping, they enlist the help of a landscape architect. Differentiating between a yard that was designed by a landscape architect and one that wasn’t is an easy task as the architect is able to transform a yard into a work of art.
The attention to detail that can be seen from landscape architecture varies widely depending upon where in the country you are. A city like Las Vegas, for example, has stark differences in landscape architecture because of the desert climate. The different styles of landscape architecture that vary from place to place will also be discussed in this episode from “Informed”.
